Aries The Star Sign
Aries is the first of twelve zodiac signs. This is because it is located in the first section of the zodiac (0 to 30 degrees ecliptic longitude from the vernal equinox). The vernal equinox, also known as the Aries point, marks the point in the northern hemisphere where the ecliptic (the sun's path around the earth) and the celestial equator (the great circle around the celestial sphere) intersect. The Aries zodiac sign represents the transition from winter to spring in the northern hemisphere and the start of a new zodiac cycle. However, because the vernal equinox moves westward, the zodiac sign of Aries (March 21 to April 20) no longer corresponds to the constellation it represents.
Aries is a small, arc-shaped constellation located east of Pisces and south of the "Triangulum." It was first identified in Mesopotamia in the third century BC and given the name "agriculturalist." However, the ancient Greeks introduced Aries as a zodiac sign and gave it its current name. In Greek mythology, Chrysomallos, a talking, flying ram with golden fur, rescued the king's son Phrixos from certain death. As a reward, King Athamas made Phrixos heir to the throne. However, Ino, Athamas' second wife (and Phrixos' stepmother), was envious and attempted to deceive her stepson with a cunning trick. Chrysomallos, the ram, flew Phrixos to safety while sacrificing himself. As a reward, the brave ram was immortalised in the night sky.
Typical Aries Traits
Aries people are known for their high energy, assertiveness, and optimistic outlook. It's the zodiac's first sign, after all! Ariens are born when spring returns. According to the horoscope, Ariens enjoy new experiences, are full of energy, and will not let anything stand in their way. Their element, fire, makes them self-assured individuals who thrive on passion and romance. However, Aries' passions can quickly turn to anger. Why? Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet named after the Roman god of war, who is known for his short temper and belligerence. Fortunately, Ariens do not dwell on negative emotions for long; their enthusiasm and drive are far too strong to indulge in pettiness.
Ariens have a reputation for ramming their heads against the wall. This should come as no surprise given that rams are built with curved horns to defend their ranks. These horns form the Aries zodiac symbol. Aries, like Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, is a cardinal sign full of determination and a strong desire to move forward. Anyone who stands in the way of an Aries should expect resistance. The Aries zodiac sign is not afraid to make a difference; it is in their nature.
